M John Tyler

US
29 March 1790 - 18 January 1862

John Tyler (1790–1862) was the tenth President (1841–1845), assuming office after William Henry Harrison’s death – the first time a vice president succeeded to the presidency. He championed the annexation of Texas and maintained the principle that a Vice President who assumes the presidency has the full powers of the office, despite facing opposition from his own party.

Interesting anecdote: Tyler fathered 15 children – more than any other president. Astonishingly, as of the 21st century, he still has living grandchildren, due to his having children late in life and those children also becoming fathers at an advanced age.
